What is the Great Wildebeest Migration, and when is the best time to see it?
The Great Migration is one of the most awe-inspiring sights on the planet. It’s a continuous, circular journey of over 1.5 million wildebeest, along with hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles, as they search for fresh grazing and water. It’s a year-round event, but you need to be in the right place at the right time to witness its most dramatic moments. Key events include the calving season in the Ndutu area (January-March), the rutting season and river crossings in the Grumeti and Mara Rivers (typically June-October), and the movement back south (November-December).
